de Barcelona price lists of many hotels and accommodations are
made available, which are however not necessarily complete specially
for most cheap hotel accommodation in Barcelona.
Who ever arrives completely without reservation in Barcelona,
which is always a risky thing to do, can get some information
about accommodation in Barcelona at the airport at the Placa
Catalunya and the tourism center (centres de Turisme). Apartments
and vacation houses in particular are quite an alternative for
families or smaller groups, to hotels and hostels. The more
travellers you get together, the cheaper gets the rent per head.
The minimum renting duration usually varies between three and
seven days.
Hotels and Bed and Breakfast
The classification of the Spanish accommodations is made
by the local authorities. The number of the stars, depend
particularly at certain equipment details that are not necessarily
meaningful to all nations e.g. whether a room possesses radio
or television or whether an elevator is present. Keeping in
mind that a 2 star hotel can be better furnished and friendlier
then the 3 star hotel around the corner.
Hotel/Hotel Residencia (H/HR): The equipment and the comfort
of the hotels in Barcelona correspond more or less with the
average northern European. Hotel Residencias are Garni hotels,
which offer breakfast, but do not posses a restaurant. And
as mentioned before that might be the only reason why this
accommodation has a lower status officially but offers just
as much in comfort and value for price.
